Wes Pelletier for Portland City Council District 2

Running for a Portland built by and for the working class.

Portland is in the grips of an unprecedented housing crisis, with a growing number of our working class residents being priced out of their homes due to rising rents and stagnating wages.

Children who want to stay in the same city as their parents simply aren’t able to, and people that want to start families often find that the math just doesn’t work out to raise kids in a city that’s as expensive as Portland.

We need leadership in City Hall that understands the growing precarity that tenants in Portland face, and who are willing to meet this challenge head on with creativity and boldness.

As a tenant, community organizer, and activist with experience in crafting policy, project management, and building coalitions, I’m running for District 2 City Councilor to ensure that our proud working class district has a strong voice in City Hall so we can start building a city that puts people over profit.

Together, we have the power to solve this crisis and bring a sense of security back to the residents that make our city run.

“Wes Pelletier will be a great choice as the next advocate for District 2, continuing to ensure Portland remains a place for all of us. District 2 is a wonderfully diverse area of many different lived experiences, with a very high demographic of renters. It’s extremely important that the next councilor of this district continues to not only protect the interests of the renters who are often overlooked, but also advocates on their behalf, as we fight to remain in a city that is increasingly unaffordable.”

District 1 City Councilor Anna Trevorrow

“Wes is deeply committed to making Portland livable for all. His experience as a tenant, community organizer, and activist have primed him well to tackle our city’s housing crisis. Wes Pelletier is exactly what our Council and community need.”

District 5 Councilor Kate Sykes

"Portland needs workers to thrive and workers deserve our strongest protections. When landlords flout our rent control laws, and wage theft is an all-too-common news story, we need leaders who will pass policies to develop and protect our workforce. Wes will be a key ally in building permanently affordable housing and creating a just economy, so that people who work for a living can earn a living."

School Board Member Emily Figdor

“I’m excited to endorse Wes for city council, because he’s a community organizer with a long track record of fighting for working people. We need councilors who are willing and able to do the hard work of making our city more livable, especially when that takes standing up to developers, other special interests, and city hall.”
